We are situated approx. 50 kms south of Poitiers, in the Deux Sèvres, close to the borders of the Charente and the Vienne. Le Logis is 10 minutes drive west of the N10, 5 minutes drive from the town of Sauzé Vaussais, which provides all necessary amenities (supermarkets, bank etc).
Poitiers has an airport (Ryanair) and railway station (TGV) - both with hire car facilities.
If travelling by ferry or chunnel, approximate driving times are:
- Calais/Boulogne = 7 hours
- Le Havre/Caen/Roscoff = 5 hours
The hamlet of Le Petit Cerzay consists of about 12 houses, and is a very quiet farming community. The main attraction of this area is the peace and tranquillity it provides, with no bustling crowds nor traffic jams. The countryside is comprised of gently rolling fields, principally of sun-flowers and maize, interspersed with woods, beautiful rivers and old villages.
Our nearest village of Mairé L'Evescault was a staging post for the pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostella and the whole area is steeped in history, with ancient abbeys and beautiful old churches. The coast at La Rochelle and Royan is an easy drive away.
The Marais Poitevin, also known as The Green Venice or Venise Vert is less than an hour's drive and is the perfect place for a day spent exploring the gentle rivers in a hired boat. The exciting theme park of Futuroscope is 45 minutes away. Also within easy reach are Limoges (famous for its porcelaine) Cognac (self-explanatory!) and Angoulême. There are numerous plans d'eau/ water play parks in our area too, where rowing boats can be hired and children can play on the slides and swim safely.
